Recently we've had the privilege of showing up for a podcast in otome.com! Listen to us talk about Meteor Shower's development and challenges, and just generally having a good time with the hosts of the podcast. There's some exclusive content at the end. Some of these things, we've never really talked about or shown before so stick around 'til the end for that.

And for the more exciting news! We know there have been delays because of our real life obligations but we're happy to say we've decided on a different direction from what we originally planned for the second update and we're glad we took the time off to realize that this is the best way to approach the story for us and it's what we wanna do.

Please look forward to the Sounds of Summer update which is going to be just as long as the Falling Stars update when it finally releases!

What Changed?

Man, that was like two years ago, but if any of you remember the old roadmap we used to have, then you could clearly see that the update after Falling Stars was supposed to be Homecoming. We changed this for one very obvious reason: Falling Stars ended with a Christmas ball. We didn't really want the finale of the next update to end on another ball or dance type high school setting. In that sense, we had to recalibrate a little bit especially because, as the podcast kinda reveals, we just go by vibes.

That Christmas ball wasn't planned, but it happened! So hell, now we gotta figure out our next move HAHA!

So in our two year break, which wasn't really a break because Jinn was working on our side project while me and Pyr continue being in education, I had a lot of time to really marinate in a music soup. Unfortunately, the music soup wasn't for Meteor Shower because I have several different streams of brainrot all colonizing my mind palace at the same time but inevitably when you get tired of searching for music, you go back to listen to stuff that you kinda miss.

The stuff I kinda miss is always gonna be emo shit from the 2000s to the early 2010s and absolutely nobody is surprised so I put on Thunder. It came to me as I was jumping around and screaming into a comb in my room at the middle of the night, "YOUR VOOOOOIIIIICEEEEE IS THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY SUMMER," that this was the experience we needed! Summer!!!!

God, the last time I ever had summer vacation was in high school. My college has a trimester type schedule so there's no fucking way I'm ever gonna taste two months of freedom again. It's over, dude. It's just so over. Just goes to show that we take a lot of shit for granted when we're young and I wanna capture that exact experience in the next update. There's gonna be summer shenanigans, out of school meet ups, and there's still going to be chapters wrapping up the rest of the school year but from that point forward, expect a summer love story for all your nostalgic needs, especially if you grew up in the 2000s or the 2010s.

What to Expect?

One of the biggest things you should expect is an even bigger focus on Julio's character. If you've noticed, he didn't really get a lot of screentime in the Falling Stars update and that part was pretty intentional. Apart from the fact that Lori would never tell him about Taylor because of how close he is to her parents, the Falling Stars update's main side plot was about Reese and Scarlett. This time, Sounds of Summer is going to have a big subplot involving Julio and Bernadette.

Apart from that, expect new locations and characters. Some characters that haven't gotten a lot of screen time in in Falling Stars will probably have more screentime here. Also, for sure this is when we meet Taylor's older brother, Dean, and find out more about his backstory. I know we all wanna see what makes our little bad boy tick, and don't you worry, we're on it. At the same time, you can expect to see Lori and Taylor deepening their relationship since the end of chapter 7, whether you ended up seeing them dating, rejecting Taylor, or not confessing at all.

Finally, the most exciting thing to come of this update is Taylor's POV! That's right, one whole entire chapter is going to be written in Taylor's perspective and we CANNOT WAIT to share that with you when it comes out. I know I'm having fun writing it. This chapter is going to be the 8th, directly following the one after the Christmas ball. I hope you're just as stoked as we are for this new development!

Next Update When?

Fuck if I know, really, but like I said above we've started writing. This time, we're writing with a plan. We should be able to set a more concrete date once we have more assets ready but that being said, thanks so much if you're still here and waiting for the game to arrive. We're still active. Personally, I'm just exhausted because if you're in a creative writing course and all you do is write for class, it's hard to squeeze creative juices out for personal stuff and that frustrates me too but I'm in a better place to write now than I was a year ago so we're doing it!
